Our Emergency Pet Care Services

Our Emergency Veterinary Services Include

Emergency Exam

An emergency exam includes our licensed veterinary technician or veterinary assistant checking your pet in, checking and logging full vitals, gathering important background information and relaying details to the veterinarian. The veterinarian will then examine your pet, this includes a nose-to-tail inspection for any abnormalities (focusing on the chief complaint).
The person presenting the pet to Emergency Pet Care is responsible for payment. This is also true for found pets which may or may not be injured. For clarity in these matters, please consult with your local Law Enforcement Agency or an Animal Control Officer. Pets are considered private property in the state of Idaho, and therefore no state funds are available for care of injured or sick animals. Financial responsibility is always with the owner.
Emergency Pet Care accepts cash, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and CareCredit. Payment is always due at the time of service.

CareCredit™ is a financing option to help you pay for your pet’s treatment or procedures. It is based on the initial credit application and prior credit history. Find out if you are approved for CareCredit for vet services.

Emergency Euthanasia

An emergency euthanasia can be performed on any sick, hurt or suffering animal. Owners are more than welcome and encouraged to be with their pet during a euthanasia (this excludes pocket pets and exotics – they must be given gas anesthesia). On arrival your pet will either be put into an exam room or brought to the back to have an IV catheter placed, then your pet and you will be put into a private room and when ready the veterinarian will come in with two drugs. Your pet will be induced with Propofol, which will make them fall asleep, then they will be euthanized by an overdose of anesthesia. The entire procedure is very gentle on your pet and you as they just “fall asleep”.

Emergency Pet Care has made a commitment to end animal suffering. When your pet is suffering, and you cannot afford treatment, the best alternative is euthanasia. Present your pet to Emergency Pet Care for a courtesy euthanasia if you cannot afford our euthanasia fee. You will not be billed for the service, but be aware that you will not be able to be present for the euthanasia and you will need to take the remains home with you. Please do not abuse this courtesy. Schedule elective euthanasia with your regular veterinarian. We reserve the right to refuse service to anybody.

Please note: Emergency Pet Care will NOT provide behavioral or convenient euthanasia.

Emergency Pet Care also offers on site cremations. Bowes Cremations was created by Annie and Pete Bowes to ensure that patients were being returned to their owners. Emergency Pet Care staff can assure owners that private cremations are truly private and remains are certainly their loved one.

Communal Cremation is also offered for owners who don’t wish to have their pets’ remains. These remains are then scattered privately.
